furan mortar

General description of furan anti-acid mortar.

Furan mortar is a two-component mortar based on Furan resin and powder, Pasarfur-1 brand name Furan mortar, produced by Pasargad Refractory Materials Company.

Its capture is done through a chemical reaction. This mortar has an impenetrable structure and is resistant to chemical corrosion, which includes a wide range of materials: strong acids, bases, oils and solvents.

The resistance of this mortar is up to 160 degrees Celsius.

Carbon-based blasting mortar production:

Also, at the customer’s request, a special type of carbon-based blasting mortar is used in environments of hydrofluoric acid, fluoride salts, and strong alkalis at high temperatures.

Application of mortar:

Furan anti-acid mortar is used to join anti-acid bricks and tiles in linings that require the highest level of chemical resistance, for example thermal power plants, petrochemical industries, steel industries, copper industries, fertilizer production, chemicals, materials Food and medicine.

It is used in parts such as floor covering, tanks and reactors

One of the special uses of anti-acid bricks and mortar in the acid washing tank is the galvanized sheet production line.

Preparation of surfaces before using mortar:

First, all bubbles and surface contamination should be removed by scraping or grinding.

Furan mortar uses acid catalysts for setting, as a result, mortar cannot be used directly on alkaline or cement-containing subsurfaces and metal structures without a special protective coating.

Alkalis neutralize the effect of the acid catalyst, and as a result, incomplete eruption of the mortar occurs.

Surfaces should be protected by a protective layer based on epoxy, polyurethane, vinyl ester, rubber or bitumen.

The surfaces must be dry and free of dust and grease.

The ambient temperature is higher than the dew point.

The proportion of resin Furan and powder and how to mix:

At the ratio of 1 resin and 5.5 powder, the resin is first poured into a suitable container and then the powder is added to it. In a short time, less than a minute, a completely uniform mixture is prepared.

Since the reaction between the two components of furan resin and powder has a heat-generating nature and this mortar sets quickly with increasing temperature, it is better to prepare a small amount of mortar at each stage.

Ready mortar must be used immediately, piling thick mortar on top of each other in the mortar container will cause thermal accumulation and fast setting.

The working time of the mortar, the optimal temperature of execution and the amount of mixture in each stage:

The working time of the mortar depends a lot on the temperature of the working environment. At a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, the working time of mortar is about 10 minutes, and this working time increases with decreasing temperature.

The optimal working temperature is 22 degrees Celsius.

Do not expose the plastered surfaces to direct sunlight.

In hot workplaces, only small amounts of mortar (about 5 kg) should be mixed to avoid uncontrollable exothermic reactions.

The presence of humidity in the work environment:

The presence of any kind of moisture, even moisture caused by water vapor, is dangerous until the mortar has set, so care must be taken to keep the workplace dry and warm after applying the mortar until it sets and hardens.

Hardening time of mortar:

The surface covered with explosive mortar should not be used until one week after implementation.

In order to achieve a good chemical resistance against solvents and alkalis, heat treatment with a hot blower or IR lamp for 8 to 12 hours is recommended. Heat treatment should be started after initial setting has occurred.

Amount of mortar used per square meter:

The consumption amount of this mortar for tiles with dimensions of 230 mils by 115 mils, with thicknesses of 25, 35 and 45 mils, for the thickness of the bed 6 mils and 6 mils, respectively: 16 kg, 17.5 kg and 19 kg. per square meter.

And for brick 230 mil x 115 mil and thickness 65 mil, 28 kg per square meter is needed.

Important notice:

There is no need for water to use Furan mortar, and ready-made mortar that has started to set should not be mixed with new mortar in any way, and if it hardens, resin should not be used to loosen it, and it is better to throw it away.

Cleaning surfaces and containers:

After finishing the daily installation of the tile, the remaining mortar on the surface of the tile and in the containers and consumables can be washed and cleaned with methyl ethyl ketone, acetone or alcohol. Standard packaging:

Powder component: It is packaged in 20 kg bags and placed in large one ton bags.

Furan resin component: supplied in 250 kg barrels.

Conditions and storage time of mortar:

Furan powder and liquid should be stored in a cool and dry place, the useful life of Furan liquid is 12 months and Furan powder is 5 months.
